Building a platform is one thing. Designing a system simple, robust and autonomous enough to keep running for years after its creation is another.

This third-party payment management platform, designed and developed end to end, is still used today by more than 2,700 independent pharmacies.

The problem

Independent pharmacies have to manage reimbursements from many French health insurers, each with its own formats and processes.

This fragmentation creates a significant administrative burden and makes reimbursement consolidation and tracking difficult.

The approach

  • End-to-end design and development: architecture, backend, data aggregation, analytical dashboards and deployment.
  • A unified platform consolidating information from different third-party payment platforms in a single application.
  • Deployment across the customer pharmacy network, with an architecture favouring simplicity, robustness and operational autonomy.

The trade-offs

Building alone a system intended for thousands of pharmacies means prioritising architectural choices that remain understandable, maintainable and robust over time.

I deliberately prioritised operational simplicity over technical sophistication, with the goal of building a system able to operate sustainably without depending on its designer.

The result

2,700+ independent pharmacies use the platform, which is still in production today.

Beyond the number of users, its longevity is concrete evidence of the robustness of the original architecture and design choices.
